All ready to leave, Kathmandu airport.
Boarding the little plane to Lukla
But when you cannot even see the control tower...
Even the staff have time for football
Everybody relaxes
Time for some coffee
Even crows don't want to fly
The sun finally burns through
We get back in
And we prepare for take off
Once in the air
The views are stunning
We land in Lukla
Yes, that is the whole airport
See the runway in the background
A helicopter comes in
We settle for breakfast...
Feasting our eyes on the Lukla settlement around us...
Sanjay checks out the view
We head down to the valley
Hardly competitive Carrom!
The Pasang Lhamu Memorial Gate
The school in the distance gets our interest
It is beautiful in every direction
I wonder what she thought of us!
They must love us!
Wouldn't you go to school here!
It is scenic, but where are the students..
Here they come!
And head straight to class, mostly
This little fellow is late!
Namasthe from everyone to everyone!
Ladies....
and gentlemen...
The schoolmaster thanks us for visiting...
and we are on our way..
Go Nokia Nepal!
Ice cold clean water for clothes
Porters carry enormous weights
For even bigger weights there are animals
We stop for tea
Manoj, our guide, loves his tea
It's not a small menu
The crows enjoy the sun
God does live in the Himalayas!
Denser and colder as we get higher
That's the team, Sanjay,Saurav, HM Ramachandra, and our guides
A few hours later, Saurav takes some rest
The next morning, we're ready to move again!
The sun is yet to hit us, this is COLD!
There are rope bridges everywhere
Finally our director of photography enjoys the sun
The light is bright but it is hazy
Winter's coming in.
A little picture break
It clears after a while
Icicles on trees
Sanjay reaches out...
and connects with Gen y
I'm not sure what his buddy told him, but he thought it was funny!
We stop for some tea
A break at Thadakoshi...
where they've had internet since the early 1900s....
But the food takes a while to arrive!
Okay, now we know why! That's our hostess!
We're on our way soon...
We're treated to some dramatic light
The next morning we're ready to get back.
